A look at freight trains at the northern end of Cologne's Gremberg Yard in 2016 and 2017

This programme looks at the northern entrance to Gremberg Marshalling Yard in Cologne. Viewed from various public access points close to the northern end of the complex, near to a road crossing, it is freight that we witness entering and leaving this very busy facility. A few diverted passenger trains are included as well as a whole range of motive power types.

This DVD is intended to give a cross-section of the various freight-train types that can be seen and covers the period from early morning through to late evening. Filmed in 2016 and 2017 it shows an almost endless procession of mixed wagon, intermodal, container and block freight workings. It is particularly interesting for those keen on modelling modern-day German Railways or like seeing the various wagon types or general freight train and locomotive operations.

Classes 101, 120, 143, 145, 147, 151, 152, 155, 182, 185, 186, 189, 192, 261, 262, 296 and 298 are just some of the loco types seen in action. Where known train identification numbers including destinations are given in the commentary or by means of captions.

For those interested in German Railways this programme offers an armchair experience of what it is like to sit next to one of Germany’s busiest freight facilities.
