Archive video material from Summer and Winter Saturdays from June 1987 to June 1988: we study a whole host of passenger train action (and some freight) from this popular train-watching location.

We have: Class 33s on Exeter – Barnstaple trains, on Brighton-Exeter services, on trains to Waterloo, including 33207 leaving the station up the grade to Central – a superb piece of ‘Crompton’ thrash! A pair is seen on ballast at Cowley Bridge Jn and 33112 heads a railtour from Templecombe.

Class 31s are featured with pairs on Summer Saturday workings and freight locos arriving on shed.

We witness 45 141 working a Paignton to Rose Grove service – a ‘massive’ working in 1988! Class 47s are seen in a variety of colour schemes on trains in all directions, including some lively departures up the incline to Central.

There are HSTs in early Intercity livery – some with blue/grey coaches, Vintage DMUs and even ‘Skipper’ class 142 units before their transfer away north.

Class 50s dominate the scene as we see a variety of locos on passenger and freight – hear the superb departures up the bank to Central as they make their way to Waterloo. Large-logo, early Network Southeast, snowplough fitted, revised NSE livery – they are all here!

We also have a class 37 on a coal train at Exmouth Jn thrown in for good measure.
