Duisburg: mainline and industrial tracks are covered as we look at action to the south of Duisburg. Our location covers the main rail bridge over the River Rhein at Hochfeld where a variety of freight and passenger trains are seen crossing the river, including industrial diesels, SBB Re4/4, DB 143, 152, 140, 485 and Taurus electrics. We also look at the line down to the steelworks at Duisburg Buchholz where class 294, 232 and 247 (Euro class 66) are seen on steel and general freight workings.

Dampfspektakel 2010 Heritage Modern - The April 2010 ‘Dampspektakel’ celebrated 175 years of German railways and featured preserved and heritage diesel and electric traction at work. We look at workings to be seen along the Mosel & Saar River valleys as well as around Gerolstein.

Dresden - a visit is made in July 2011 to the City’s suburban network, where we see class 143 & 145 electrics on S-Bahn services, also class 180 & even a green class 142 on freight.

Class 420 demise - a look at the endangered class 420 electric multiple units at work near Stuttgart and Frankfurt-am-Main.

Oberhausen - we view the freight lines around Oberhausen and Duisburg with a look at freight and passenger action on the line that runs up to Emmerich and onwards into The Netherlands. Just north of Oberhausen Yard we see several mainline diesel classes of 203, G2000 and G1206 as well as electric locomotives from classes 146, 151, 155, and 189. This is a fascinating location in an area which is popular with European railway enthusiasts.

Steam in the Harz - we leave the best to last, an extended Winter feature on the Harz narrow gauge lines between Wernigerode, Brocken, Harzegerode and Quedlinburg. We have station shots and scenes from on board the trains as they make their way through the snow-covered landscape. However, first of all we have to get to the line and what better way than behind preserved V200 (Warship) number V200-033 on a railtour organised by rail operator OnWheels. We have plenty of Maybach thrash to get us into the mood - finished off with fantastic scenes in the snow!
