(HD Blu-Ray) American Railroad: Vol 39 - East St. Louis to Chicago Heights
Description
Run-time: 1 hour and 38 mins approx.
Journeying from the west of Illinois then north-east to Indiana, before returning to Illinois and Chicago Heights, this production looks at the vast number of train-types to be found across one of the busiest railroad States in the Country. Granite City and East St. Louis kick off the programme with the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis dominating. Union Pacific, Amtrak and Kansas City Southern power are seen at Granite City, with GP38, GP40M and SD60M witnessed in and around TRRA Madison Yard. We see Union Pacific SD60s hauling a manifest over the impressive MacArthur Bridge as well as views of St. Louis and a UP light power move from the Mississippi River overlook.
Moving east we call in to Centralia a busy junction featuring Norfolk Southern, BNSF and Canadian National tracks as well as Amtrak. There are various road power units seen such as ES44AC, SD70ACe, Dash9-C44W and an BNSF GP39-2 in Burlington Northern colours.
Dipping quickly into Indiana we travel to the CSX tracks on the northern outskirts of Terre Haute. Long manifests with mid-train distributed power make up the majority of the trains witnessed, with power from UP, KCS, Canadian Pacific and CSX all seen. We also view Indiana Railroad power in the shape of a pair of SD40-2s.
We conclude the programme with a visit to Chicago Heights where two trains feature CSX and UP power as they pound the nearby diamonds.
