HUNGARY - in September 2025 we visited a busy section of double-track mainline near the town of Solnok, some 115 km south-east of Budapest. Our chosen location is the junction station at Szajol. Loco-hauled trains dominate here with four different class types seen on various workings. In addition it is busy for freight with up to four trains seen each hour. Three different types of multiple units are also captured working services on this classic mainline.
GERMANY - we have the second of our visits to the very busy freight and passenger line linking Braunschweig with Magdeburg. In this section we call in to three stations to the west of Magdeburg. Motive power includes classes: 111, 145, 146, 152, 185, 186, 187, 189, 192, 193, 240, 265, 370, 383, 386, 1275, 202 and 203.
BELGIUM - a popular train-watching spot just to the north of Denderleeuw station is visited on a weekday afternoon close to rush hour. Passenger trains dominate with older and brand new multiple units seen in action including types AM96, AM08, AM80 and M7 Bm’s. Loco-operated workings are also witnessed bringing Class 13, 27, 18 and 19 to your screens.
AUSTRIA - the Westbahn route to the west out of Vienna sees non-stop action. Linz is the busiest location on the route and it is here that we sample a typical selection of traction and train types. Passenger services are seen with, KISS double-deck units, 4124, ICE, class 1116 and 1216, 1142 as well as a Czech 380. Freight sees 1144, 2070, 193, 1016, 1116, 185 and 189 on various workings from stone, steel, logs, container and scrap traffic.
