CZECH REPUBLIC - a study of electric and diesel traction on two lines on the southern outskirts of Ostrava. Local trains are seen formed by class 460 and 470 electric units with private operator Regio-jet providing class 162 electrics for their trains. On a diesel line classes 740, 742, 754 and 842 are all seen at work. Trains include loco-hauled passenger workings and freight.
GERMANY - a study of Class 143 electrics on commuter trains to the south of Essen before their replacement by electric multiple units.
FRANCE - rush-hour action to the north of Strasbourg where amongst a variety of workings we see, BB25500, BB26000, TGVs and BB67400 diesels at work.
AUSTRIA - a look at trains on the Semmeringbahn as we call in to Spital am Semmering. Classes 1016, 1116, 1216, 2016, 4024, 1142 and 1042. This is a busy mainline and is crowded with passenger and freight train operations.
SWITZERLAND - the second in our look at mainline operations to the east of Basel: this time we study traffic on the route out towards Olten. Re6/6, Re4/4 460, 485, 521, 523, 500 and ICE.
GERMANY - a busy freight line is witnessed as we follow the trains south of Fulda. MRCE class 182 and 189s as well as DB 152 are amongst those seen.
SLOVENIA - Class 664 diesels - making a lot of noise - are seen on at the head of freight trains out of Borovnica. Class 2016, 644, 363 and 342 also feature in our third visit to the line during rebuilding work.
