(HD Blu-Ray) European Railway: Loco-Hauled 2014
Description
Run-time !hour and 40 mins approx.
IRELAND - we take a trip on an Irish Record Society Railtour on the 19th of July 2014. The tour features three separate class 071 diesels as we make the run from Dublin Connolly down to Waterford, then to Limerick and back to Dublin.
POLAND - a look at traction around Warsaw followed by runs behind SU46 diesels on Summer trains south of Lublin as well as witnessing the final few weeks of the cross-border intercity trains around Forst.
CZECH REPUBLIC - a country which still sees the majority of its services hauled by locomotives. We base ourselves around Ostrava, where class 754 diesels dominate. Also included are classes 362, 151 and Polish freight locomotive ET41. We continue to the Breclav area where classes 1216, 363 and EU45 are all seen. Finally we head off to Karlovy Vary where class 363, 242 and 742 are witnessed on a variety of workings.
HUNGARY - the summer of 2014 the country was a haven for haulage enthusiasts from all over Europe. Freight-only locos were at work on some passenger diagrams and it is one of these - in the shape of ‘Nohab’ class M61 number 2761 017 - that we have a run behind from Tapolca to Budapest. GySEV are continuing to hire in class 232 diesels from DB: we take a run behind these monster locos.
GERMANY - Berlin where class 143s are seen on passenger duties, next to the Itzehoe north of Hamburg where ME26, 218 & 143s are seen - for the class 143s these were on services since taken over by a private operator. Class 218s east of Hanover, whilst we see a class 111 at Mannheim.
SLOVAKIA - we focus on action around Zvolen where class 750, 754 and 757 diesels are seen in action with views from the stations and on board some of the trains: we also find class 240 & 242 on passenger duties - plus class 721 and 210.
CROATIA - plenty of thrash-action as we finish off our programme with runs behind class 2044 locos on passenger duties to the west of Zagreb. We also witness class 2132, 2062,1141 and 1142 - but it is the 2044s that are the stars of the show with their throaty exhausts!!!!
