Run-time: 1 hour and 47 min. Please note: filmed and produced in NTSC format.

In the Spring of 2025 we took a journey across the United States between Los Angeles and Chicago, following many of the rail routes that cross the country.

This programme is the third to document our journey as we head across the classic UP Overland Route through north-eastern Utah and south-west Wyoming. The programme begins in the highly picturesque Echo Canyon (see cover picture), a favourite photographic location used by visiting railfans from across the world. The steeply sided rock cutting plays host to a steady stream of trains as we see grain, stack, automotive and manifest workings blasting their way up the steep grades.

The line continues east cresting over the Wasatch hills before reaching Evanston where we pick up the action once again for our journey east to Leroy; two manifest and an autorack are seen where the grasslands of south-western Wyoming begin to dominate the scenery. We arrive at the junction town of Granger where the UP Pocatello Sub joins our Evanston Sub adding up to a further 15 trains to the daily totals seen. A myriad of telegraph poles is seem here which creates an artificial forest laid out in front of us as we see trains picking their way through the wooden uprights. Manifest and stack trains with plenty of power dominate the trains seen.

Moving on again we get to Peru where a deep cut offers an interesting vantage point where we witness two eastbounds and a lengthy westbound manifest attacking the grade with two locos up front, two mid-train helpers and two more rear DPUs struggling to keep the train moving - a great sight! Finally we arrive in Green River, where switching in being carried out by a pair of SD40Ns as road trains pass on by. This is a great programme showing superb scenery and long road trains in action.
