(Standard DVD) American Railway: Vol 16 'Wisconsin Wayfarer'
Description
Run-time 1hour 39 mins approx.
Travelling along the BNSF main that skirts the eastern banks of the Mississippi, we feature scenes including the lift bridge over the Croix River at Prescott, crude oil at Bay City, and Nelson, and CitiRail ES44AC locos thru Hager, before sampling CP, NS and CSX traffic at La Crosse. Next, we head north to Norma for UP and Wisconsin Northern sand shipments, visit the Wisconsin Great Northern Tourist line through Trego to see their 64-year-old F7A unit at work, then hunt for local freight in the City of Superior where a busy former SOO Line SW9 now owned by ILSX was found. Turning attention to routes now operated by CN, we examine the newly constructed bascule bridge across the Fox River at Oshkosh, and witness the variety of trip freight workings in Neenah that included an Illinois Central rebuilt GP40R and locos still bearing Grand Trunk Western livery before following the former Wisconsin Central line to Stevens Point, Junction City and beyond. Back at the BNSF by the Mississippi, we pay a brief visit to the stunning overlook from Palisades State Park near Savanna, IL, viewing CSX autoracks, before heading north via Trempealeau and Fountain City to our final calling point, the spectacular overlook from Wyalusing State Park.
