Our first section of the programme covers the busy route between the north of Ipswich to just east of Bury St Edmunds. This route sees a mixture of passenger and freight services; which includes container trains, stone workings as well as Stadler electric and bi-mode units on passenger services. A highlight includes the long straight just to the east of Thurston offering views of trains dipping down and running up the grades. We are off to Kent next for a journey from north-east of Ashford and then on towards Dover, north to Sandwich and Minster, to the west of Ramsgate. Class 375 and 377 electric units as well as Hitachi Class 395s all appear on a variety of workings. The section includes the active signalboxes at Chartham and Sturry. It’s the West Somerset Railways next with a quick visit featuring preserved Class 33 number D6575 and Steam in the form of 7812 ‘Erlestoke Manor’ and the new 6880 ‘Betton Grange’. Cornwall is featured with a look at freight and passenger workings near to St.Austell and Lotswithiel as well as scenes around Marazion and Penzance. HSTs, 800s, Class 37, Class 66 and Class 70 all feature. Included is the last few weeks in traffic of the CDA China-clay wagons used on the Fowey clay traffic. Banbury is our next location with scenes taken to the north of the town and from the platforms of the town’s station. Chiltern line Class 165 and 168 are seen, with Cross-Country Class 220 and 221 Voyagers as well as a GWR class 165. Freight traffic is represented with Class 66 from Freightliner, DB, Colas, and GBRf: we also see Class 70s on container services. Finally we conclude the programme with a trip to the Swanage Railway for some everyday action from the county of Dorset. SR U-class 4-6-0 number 31806 is the steam loco featured whilst a superb BR-green heritage DMU is also seen made up of Classes 117 and 121.
