(Standard DVD) Class 56 in Retrospect
Description
A programme featuring the British Rail class 56 heavy freight locomotives filmed during the late 1980s and early 1990s. All 135 examples are seen in various colour schemes from BR Blue to Railfreight red-stripe and Trainload freight.
Filmed throughout the mid-1980s and early 1990s, many of the originial liveries are seen on a number of heavy freight workings including coal, oil, scrap, steel, fly-ash, stone and speedlink. The programme contains numerous sequences of the unmistakable 'scream' of their Ruston Paxman 16K3CT, 3250 horsepower engine on full power. All video material has been digitally re-mastered for the best possible enjoyment.

56001 on stone in BR blue at Milton Keynes, 56009 at Crewe, 56013 in Cornwall on China Clay, 56018 at Newport, 56025 at Stenson Jn, 56031 on Iron Ore, 56036 at Westbury on stone, 56068 in grey primer undercoat, 56113 blasting out of the Severn Tunnel on coal, 56120 at Westbury in 1985, 56116 on test at Peak Forest, 56105 and 56087 double-head Iron Ore in South Wales, 56129 storming Llanvihangel bank on a speedlink mixed freight.
In total every locomotive is seen in this programme in all of their original stamping grounds and it makes a valuable collectors item for anyone interested in these popular locomotives.
