Description
Country Collection is a compilation of country sections contained in the European Railway series sold elsewhere on this site. This programme is made up from European Railway Summer 2001 through to Winter 2003/4.
Liege: A host of Belgian traction on freight and passenger workings around this major railway city. Included are a class 62 diesel on molten-iron freight, a class 51 on grain hoppers, a class 55 on passenger, class 13, 16, 21, 23 and 27 all operating passenger trains, Thalys TGV units, class 22, no 2249 on banking duties, class 82 shunter on empty stock as well as a wide range of electric multiple units.
Luxembourg - Wasserbillig: Situated on the banks of the River Mosel, the picturesque town plays an importnat part in the cross-border rail activity with Germany. classes 3600, 1800 diesels, new-type 3000 as well as DB classes 181, 184 and 216 are also seen.
Luxembourg: Bettembourg is another railway hotspot located in this fascinating country; a major marshalling and freight centre we witness SNCF BB16500 and 15000 locomotives on passenger and freight as well as hired in Dispolok class ME26 and CFL's own 1800 diesels, 3000 and 3600 electrics.
Belgium: Lines around Antwerpen and one of the busiest stretches of route in the country as we profile traction around the north of the city and it's huge port complex. AM73, AM75, AM86 and locos from classes 11, 20, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 51, 62, 74, 75, 76, 77, 83 and 85 are pictured at work between 1996 and 2002.
Luxembourg: Rodange - filmed in 2002, a study is made of traffic around the station and yard areas featuring heritage multiple units and endangered class 3600 electrics as well as class 911 shunters.
The Netherlands@ We pay a visit to Roosendaal on the border with Belgium. The town boasts a very busy station with almost constant activity involving Plan V8-V13, V4, V5, V6, Plan V7, VT, IRM 'Regiorunner' electric units, plus locos from class 11 and 1700, 6400 and privately-owned ex-NS 2200 diesels.
