In this programme we visit:
SLOVAKIA: We travel to east of Kosice to witness activity on the 1524mm-gauge Iron Ore line into the Ukraine as well as the parallel ZSR standard line. Classes 125.8, 163, 721, 752, & 183 all feature.

POLAND: The Russian 1520mm freight line known as the 'Steel and Sulphur railway' links the Polish industrial region around Katowice with the Ukraine and beyond. Cameraman Ian Wilson visited the line in June 2006 where we see and hear the dedicated ST44 locos working the heavy freight trains.
CZECH REPUBLIC: We survey diesel and electric traction at work around Karlovy Vary, including the diesel line to Kadan. Unsilenced class 749 & 750 diesels feature as well as 242, 742, 751, 753 and 754.
HUNGARY: Snow scenes from February 2005, featuring M41, M62 and V43 locomotives on a variety of passenger turns: including cab-ride scenes from on board an M62 diesel.
