In this programme we feature sections from programmes issued between Summer 2004 and Winter 2004/05.

Scenic: A survey of trains and traction along the picturesque Mosel Valley, with classes 140, 141, 155, 185 and 110 in action.

Passau route: mainline action takes us to the busy junction at Obertaubling just to the south of Regensburg on the lines to Munich and Passau. Classes include DB 101, 110, 111, 143 and 151 as well as OBB class 1016 and 1116.

Class 218: a look at the powerful class 218 diesels at work north of Hamburg and to the south-east of Hannover in 2003 and 2004. Plenty of thrash!

Regional: We look at activity at Ruhland in the eastern part of Germany with class 120 (M62), 143, 155, 145, 185 and 298.

Night time action from Friesenheim on the route to Basel, with ICE, 110, 111, 139, 140, 151, 152, 482 and 485.

Hill route: a study of the main line over the Frankenwald Hills between Pressig and Probstzella. Highlights include a green class 151 banking a freight up the steeply graded route. Others include: classes 103, 140, 143, 150, 151, 155, 612 and ICEs, all filmed between 1998 and 2004.

Rails along the Rhine: A comprehensive study of traffic on both banks of the river between Koblenz and Lorch. A feast of classes are seen in older livery styles including: 215, 101, 103, 110, 111, 120, 140, 141, 143, 145, 146, 150, 151, 155, 182 and ICE! Filmed between 1994 and 2004.
