SWITZERLAND - we visit the Basel to Brugg mainline east of Frick to the closed station at Effingen. Our filming is split into two sections: the first looking at traffic through Frick station and the second around Effingen. Passenger and freight make this route busy with 6 to 7 trains each way per hour. Classes 420, 620, 193, 185, 189, 474, 460, 503, 513 and 521 are just some of those seen.

SLOVAKIA - a look at traction on a section of the main route between Bratislava and Budapest. We stop off at a number of stations along the line where we witness passenger and freight, with traction provided by Classes 380, 383, 193, 362, 230, 240, 263 and 812.

FRANCE - the south of the country is featured as we go to the lineside just to the west of Narbonne on the route to Toulouse. BB7200, BB26000, BB27000, E4000, TGV and multiple units all feature on a variety of passenger and freight.

BELGIUM - the tracks south-east of Braine-le-Comte are visited with DMU, electric locos and diesel variety on a typical rural mainline.

SWITZERLAND - the second part of our feature on the Basel to Brugg route with trains around Effingen (see front cover).

GERMANY - a study of traffic on the Ansbach to Treuchtlingen line with classes, 111, 112, 143, 146, 152, 185, 186, 193, and ICEs: just some of the traction variety to be seen, both in the countryside and on stations finishing at Treuchtlingen.
