Description
The video magazine for the continental enthusiast. run-time approx 60 mins.
Austria: a two-part section beginning with the country's newest diesel locomotives, the class 2016, at work east of Graz; while more traditional traction in the shape of the 1970s class 2143 locos are seen at work near St.Pölten.
Denmark: Mainline action near Middelfart and Padborg. Intercity electric and diesel units are seen at speed as well as local services and freight. Locos include class MZ and the new 3000-class Co-Co electrics. At Padborg we see a considerable variety including visiting German locos & an Austrian class 1116 electric on hire to Dispolok.
Holland: A revisit to a real hot-spot. Lage Zwaluwe is a diminutive country station south of Dordrecht. We see a whole procession of passenger and freight traffic during our evening stop-over, including: Shortlines Vossloh diesel No: 2001, Euro class 66 number PB02, class 6400 diesels, class 11, 1700 and 1800 electrics, as well as Plan V and RegioRunner multiple units, Thalys high speed trains and DD-AR units.
Hungary: Ian Wilson visited the 750-mm narrow gauge lines in north-eastern Hungary during a snowy February this year. The 'Nyírségi kisvasút' line to the north of Nyíiregyyhaza is featured including spectacular scenes where both local roads and railway tracks are obscured by snow. Class Mk48 diesels dominate.
Belgium: we call in to Merelbeke station as we witness a variety of electric multiple units and locomotives at work on a mixture of mainline services. We feature the increasingly scarce class 62 diesels, a French BB67400 on freight and new M6 double-deck passenger stock, as well as much more.
