France: A visit is made to the railway centre at Dijon Gevrey marshalling yard. We use material from 1996, 2001 and 2005 which includes rare footage of BB8100 and CC7100 electric locomotives, now withdrawn. BB 7200, 22200, 26000, 27000, 36000 & CC72000 also feature.

Czech Republic: We survey diesel and electric traction at work around Karlovy Vary, including the diesel line to Kadan. Unsilenced class 749 & 750 diesels feature as well as 242, 742, 751, 753 and 754.

Austria: The 'Taurnbahn' is visited as we look at activity on this popular alpine line. Class 1044 and 1116 dominate the trains to be seen amidst the mountain scenery.

Germany: Part 2 of our Rhein survey as we visit the town of Linz. Freight traffic dominates as we sample classes 'euro 66', 140, 143, 151, 152, 182, 185, 189 and 425.

Hungary: Snow scenes from February 2005, featuring M41, M62 and V43 locomotives.

Switzerland: We study freight and passenger activity on the mainline between Basel and Brugg on the line to Zurich. A whole host of classes appear including 560, ICE, Re 4/4, Re 6/6 and 460.
