Switzerland - a visit is made to Andermatt on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn as we witness trains in deep winter snow. There is plenty of spectacular mountain railway action, including the famous 'Glacier Express',
Austria - a study of rail activity at the border station at Summerau, close to the Czech Republic. Austrian classes 1142 and 1116 as well as CD class 340 and 771 appear on a variety of passenger and freight workings.
Germany - Hagen, south of Dortmund, is our mainline feature as classes 111, 112, 140, 143, 145, 151, 152, 155, 225, 624, 402 and 426 all make an appearance on this eight-track stretch of railway.
France - a journey to the south of the country and to the regional town of Béziers. We take a look at late afternoon activity where we see a good mixture of freight and passenger action, including TGVs, BB7200, 8500, 9300, 22200 and 26000.
Hungary - rural railways around Debrecen. Endangered MDmot units, class M41 and M62 on passenger and freight turns along single-track country lines. We also visit the station at Bánréve, close to the Slovakian border, where class 742 and 753 provide the power.
Spain - a look at the steeply graded Pajares route south of Oviedo. spectacular mountain scenery is included as we feature class 340 units, class 269 and 252 electrics as well as refurbished class 333 diesels.
