Germany – we sample local trains to the west of Berlin with class 112 and 114 locos in action, before we head south to the area just to the north of Zwickau, where class 143, 155, 612 are seen going about their business:
Slovenia - a look at activity on the single-track line down to the Port of Koper. Freight and passenger trains feature including the French-built class 363, class 541 and OBB class 1216’Taurus’ as well as a class 664 diesel on passenger duties and 342 on intercity duties.
The Netherlands - electric multiple unit action on the line to Lelystad.
Finally we pay another visit to Germany and an extended feature from Hamburg-Harburg where the sheer amount of freight and passenger activity are well and truly evident. Incredibly our visit was made on a Sunday and what would in the UK be a ‘quiet day’, but here we can see anything up to 15 freight trains per hour passing through the station. We see class 101, 110, 113, 145, 146, 151, 152, 155, 185, 189, 1116, 202, 221 and 250 to name just a few - an amazing place for the railway enthusiast to visit!!
