AUSTRIA - a study of traffic on the mainline north of Graz, filmed between 2013 and 2014. Classes 4024, 4062, 1142, 144, 1116, 1216, 1016, 2068 and DB 101 all feature. Passenger and freight services appear as we film at Mixnitz, Frohnleiten, Peggau and Stübing.
FRANCE - Endangered BB8500 electrics are just some of the locomotives filmed as we look at traction on the line between Paris and Chartres in September 2014. BB7200, BB26000 and z26500 also appear.
SWITZERLAND - we view passenger services on the narrow-gauge, 750mm, Waldenburgerbahn between Liestal and Waldenburg, with on-street and roadside running: filmed in June 2014.
GERMANY - a study of trains and traction on the mainline between Mannheim and Karlsruhe at Graben-Neudorf. ICE sets from classes 401 and 403, plus 425 units and also classes 101,111, 145, 185, 186, 189, 1216, 242 and 203 are all seen on a mixture of freight and passenger services.
SWITZERLAND - as the countdown continues for the opening of the new Gotthard Base tunnel we take a trip to Wassen on the old line to document 2 hours worth of action on the evening of 4th July 2014.
SLOVENIA (Part 1) - the results of the devastating ice-storm in February 2014 severely damaged the electrified railway infrastructure on the mainline south of Ljubljana. While work to re-electrify the line continues class 664 diesels where drafted in to operate the succession of freight and passenger services. These loud locomotives are seen at work between Rakek and Prestanek in the first of a two-part feature.
