(Standard DVD) European Railway Special Edition 2010
This programme complements our European Railway magazine series. In this edition we see travel to:
Switzerland – the suburban station at Renens, just outside of Lausanne, provides the backdrop for a series of trains that we see headed by Class RE 4/4, 460 & BLS 486, as well as electric units, Intercity 500 & shunters from classes 641 & 843. We also call in to Chavorney at the junction with the branch to Orbe. We see class 560, Re 6/6, Re4/4, Ae 6/6, class 843 & privately operated electric units & shunters on both passenger & freight.
Germany – our interlude spot features Koblenz with a class 425 & 185, before moving north to near Venlo where we see now displaced class 111 electrics at work.
Slovenia - a study of mainline action to the east of Ljubljana where the sole-surviving class 661 diesel is seen in operation, plus examples of class 363 on freight, classes 342 & 541 on passenger; with 310, 312, 315 & 541 on semi-fasts.
Austria - a study of the TauernBahn south of the summit with Classes 1016, 1044, 1116, 1216, Slovenian 541, DB class 101 & OBB 4024 on freight & passenger turns, filmed amongst the magnificent scenery.
Belgium – the freight line to the docks at Antwerpen is our chosen location where, Classes 11, 12, 20, 23, 26, 27, 28, 77 & SNCF BB36000 are seen in action.
Germany - historic 103 245 is spotted in action near Nürnberg.
Switzerland - the southern ramp of the Gotthardbahn near Airolo is featured: mountain scenery with locos from Re6/6, Re4/4, ETR470, 500 & 185 feature.
