(HD Blu-Ray) American Railroad: Vol 36 - A return to Kansas City
Description
Run-time: 1 hour and 44 mins approx.
One of the busiest locations in the United States for freight volume is the area surrounding Kansas City. In American Railroad: Volume 33 we looked at a number of spots in the area including Union Station and Santa Fe Junction; however, there is so much to see that we have produced another title looking at many more locations around this iconic railfanning hot-spot.
We begin with two locations on the busy BNSF Transcon, the first south-west of Argentine Yard and then in the east along Cement City Road. The joint Norfolk Southern and BNSF tracks are then covered around the Birmingham area to the north.
Our filming moves west with a study of trains near to the CPKC Knoche and UP Neff Yards with mainline and switching action taking place, with fallen-flag cars seen in many of the manifests that are common in this area. KCS old livery is witnessed as well as traction from Canadian National and Union Pacific.
We continue our programme with a look at the flyover west of Santa Fe Junction in the State of Kansas, before a quick view of switching outside of Mill Street Yard. Finally our focus moves to the area around the West Bottoms (see cover picture) where a number of iconic scenes are witnessed around this popular railfanning area. Both BNSF and UP trains dominate, with unit coal trains, long manifests, block fuel and stack train workings around this once industrial heartland of the City.
A return to Kansas City - not to be missed!
