GERMANY - the second part in our look at the busy passenger and freight line linking Nürnberg with Würzburg. ICE trainsets dominate with class 440 on locals and a variety of locos on freight. Surprise visitors are two Swiss class 501 trainsets on test.
SWITZERLAND - the first part of a feature looking at the route between Winterthur and Sankt Gallen, through typical northern Swiss country scenery. Classes GTW2/6, 420, 425, 460, 500, 502 and 511 all feature. Our first visit looks at the line between Elgg and near to Wils.
AUSTRIA - we call in to the Linz Localbahn at Eferding for a quick look at electric unit operations and locos stabled.
BELGIUM - the busy strategic main line linking Antwerpen with Hasselt is visited with a study of operations around Berlaar and to the east of Aarschot. Class 66, 186, 18, 19, 21, AM08 and AM80 units appear on a variety of freight and passenger workings.
GERMANY - two scenes of class 112s in action north of Berlin.
FRANCE - we are now in the final months of regular locomotive-hauled trains on the route between Paris and Caen in Normandy. This section takes a look at Class BB15000 and BB26000 electrics at work on the line as well as examples of Bi-Mode Multiple Units. The locomotives are due to be replaced by new Omnéo Premium Electric Units now starting to be introduced as this programme is put together in July 2020.
