GERMANY - Part 2 of our study of traffic on the main line to the west of Braunschweig towards Hannover. This busy cross-country route is a channel for large quantities of freight traffic from the northern German ports into eastern europe. A wide range of motive power sees examples from G1206, 203, 140, 143, 145, 146, 151, 152, 185, 186, 189, 193, 440, 445, 401 and 402. A good mix of passenger and freight traffic is seen on this popular train-watching stretch of line.

FRANCE - a journey to Nord-Pas de Calais to the west of Lille near Hazebrouck, sees local and long-distance freight services in action on the lines out to Dunkerque and Calais. We also call in to Ostricourt which is the first location we used for Issue 1 of this series; where we use new and old footage shot over 21 years ago to compare trains then and now.

BELGIUM - commuter train action through the busy station of Schaerbeek on the northern outskirts of Brussels. Filmed in September 2022 we see almost constant activity with the majority of trains loco-hauled. Classes include: 13, 18, 19, 21, 27, 77 and 186. Also units AM08, AM73, AM80, AM86 and AM 75. re all seen.

HUNGARY - action from on Budapest’s Keleti station filmed in September 2022. Near constant loco-hauled activity brings a whole host of classes as well as station-pilot workings. A good mixture of modern and heritage traction is seen including a wide range of coaching stock from this popular railway location.
