ITALY: The southern foot of Italy is served by a number of single-track secondary routes. We look at both diesel and electric activity on the line between Sibari and Taranto. Locos include class 445 diesels, 424 & 656 electrics & class 668 diesel units; filmed in April 2004.
Luxembourg: Changes to the motive power scene are occurring; we review the loco types in use during 2004, including class 3600 electrics now on the verge of complete withdrawal.
Spain: A visit to the busy junction town of Medina Del Campo, north of Madrid. Classes include: 251, 269, 333, 470 & 596.
Holland: all change too around Rotterdam Docks as electrification of the areas freight lines expands. We study activity around Waalhaven Yard, including Railion 6400 & 232, Euro 66s & Shortlines locos recently taken over by Rail4Chem.
Germany: A study of the main line over the Frankenwald Hills between Pressig and Probstzella. Highlights include a green class 151 banking freights over the steeply graded route. Others include: classes 103, 140, 143, 150, 151, 152, 155, 612 and ICEs. Filmed between 1998 & 2004.
France: The superb class CC6500 electrics are close to becoming obsolete, we look back at workings in southern France during late 2004, including both passenger and freight.
