(Standard DVD) Line by Line: Slovenia - Koper to Pivka 2019
Description
Run-time 1 hour and 43 mins
We follow the route from the Port of Koper inland to the junction at Pivka. Plenty of freight and passenger amongst superb scenery with classes 312, 342, 363, 1216, 193, 189, 2016 and 541. Filmed in 2016 and 2018.
Opened in 1968 the line from the Port of Koper to the junction at Prešnica is one of the most photographed in the country, climbing some 450 metres altitude up from the Adriatic coast. Although single track the line is heavily saturated with freight traffic travelling inland and from various countries to the north and east. Motive power in the programme are from a range of very modern electrics to those over forty years old with the latter represented by the icon of French-designed traction, the class 363s based on the SNCF CC6500s. Container, automotive, iron ore, fuel, coal and mixed freight trains are all witnessed in the beautiful scenery that is to be found in this part of Slovenia. Classes 193, 1216, 541.0, 541.1, 189 and 363, either leading or banking some of the freight trains are witnessed. We also view class 342 electrics on passenger as well as 312 and 710 units on local trains, together with shunting locomotives from class 642.0 and 642.1. Our camera positions are from a number of well-known and not so known positions deep in the open countryside. If you’ve not visited the area before this DVD provides an excellent overview of the traction and train types to be seen.
